What is Reconciliation?
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also known as Penance and Confession, among other names.
Although often called Reconciliation in common usage, the term “penance” best describes the essential interior disposition required for this Sacrament.
In fact, there is a virtue of penance.
Confession is a supernatural virtue by which we are moved to detest our sins from a motive made known by faith, and with an accompanying purpose of offending God no more and of making satisfaction for our sins. In this sense the word “penance” is synonymous with “penitence” or “repentance.”
Before Christ, the virtue of Penance was the only means of forgiveness of sins. Even today, for those outside the Church in good faith who do not possess the Sacrament of Penance, it is the only means of forgiveness.
Grotto of Mercy
At St. Faustina Catholic Church, we have a history of allowing our parishioners to give their confessions within our “Grotto of Mercy.” This is something unique at our Parish and a historical icon that has followed us through our various locations within Central Florida. Our parishioners have found it a place of solace and reconciliation, and we hope you will, too.
Confession Schedule
The Sacrament of Penance (Confession) is celebrated on Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. If you cannot make that time, feel free to make an appointment with Father Carlos by calling the parish office at 352-515-9297.
Haven’t been to Confession in a while?
If you haven’t been to Confession in a while, the Catholic Church wants to welcome you back and invites you to participate in this beautiful Sacrament of healing. Take a step in faith. You’ll be surprised about how free you feel after taking part in the Sacrament of Penance. So many Catholics describe incredible feelings of peace, joy, relief, and love they never expected. Jesus is calling you to experience His mercy in this way, too.
