The Diocese and the Finance Committee of the Parish make this information available to any parishioner who may be interested in it. 2018 MASS INTENTION BOOK IS OPEN FOR SCHEDULING--Reminder of the new procedures we had to install back in March of 2017 in order to be fair to all. Because we have grown somewhat, Parishioners/requesters may offer NO MORE than 3 Masses per month. Requesters are only permitted ONE intention per month on the WEEKEND, and 2 intentions per month on weekdays. Masses must be paid for at time they are put in the book. If someone calls to “hold a date”, there is no guarantee it will be held for more than 5 business days. Customary offering of $10.00 per intention must be in hands of parish office to finalize scheduling. Only one intention per Mass unless from same family (no more than 3 names) and approved by Pastor. Again, to be fair to all, this is done on a first come/first serve basis. Preferred manner of scheduling is to come to parish office. NO PRIVATE INTENTIONS will be scheduled on Christmas, Easter, Mother’s & Father’s Day, All Souls day, Thanksgiving Day, Holy Thursday and any others blocked off by Pastor. Due to Pastor’s Obligation to offer Mass for the Parishioners weekly, there will be one weekend Mass set aside for that on a rotating basis. Please be understanding of the need for these procedures and be kind to the staff as you deal with them.
TO KEEP THE PARISH INFORMED—On August 8th, the Financial Advisory Board of the parish recommended that it would benefit our parish if we took the unique action of paying some of the principal owed on the loan that the Diocese of Orlando gave us to get started back in 2006. As you know, the amount of that loan is $824,000.00 and the parish has been very faithful in paying the monthly interest charges of over $3,200.00, but we have paid NONE of the principal thus far. The interest being charged on the loan is 4.75% while the interest we earn on our savings accounts is only 1%; so, as the comptroller of the Diocese pointed out, we are “losing” money here. I, therefore, upon the advice of your board and the comptroller, instructed the Diocese to take $50,000 from our savings and pay it toward the principal of the loan. In addition to that, the Board also recommended that we pay an additional $2,000 monthly with the interest payment. That started on August 9th. You will shortly be receiving a copy of our Fiscal year 2016-2017 Financial Report for your perusal. On that report, you will discover that we ended the year $69,000.00 in the black. So, St. Faustina’s continues to be fiscally healthy, due to your generosity (and my “stinginess”). Hopefully, these actions will reinforce with the Diocesan leadership that we are ready for the bigger challenge of building a permanent church structure and getting out of these leased spaces. Please PRAY HARDER!
MEMORIALIZING OPPORTUNITIES--There is now a seating chart of all the previously memorialized chairs in the glass bulletin board outside of the usher’s room in church. If you have not found your chair yet, look for the person(s) name who you memorialized and you should be able to find it. Many thanks to those who have joined us in this endeavor. There are chairs still available. If you are interested in memorializing a chair, please contact the office.

GOT SOME TIME ON YOUR HANDS? LOOKING TO PUT THE GOSPEL INTO ACTION? There is a Food Bank in the strip mall behind Wendy’s, just a couple of blocks south of us. It is managed by Pastor Michael Hopewell of the New Water Church: a local Christian church. They have been there about 8-9 years (I only found out about the food bank a couple of months ago). At the present time, they have a couple of women taking care of the bank who would love to have more folks to help. There are also certain times of the month when they could use some able bodied young men to help unload trucks with food from Second Harvest, which supplies them. If you are interested in more info, feel free to call 352-999-1213 and identify yourself from St. Faustina’s, and see where it goes. Remember, all Christians are called to carry out the corporal works of mercy, like feeding the hungry.
